Steps

  1. All Account Services holds must be paid BEFORE you can begin the process. As long as you do not have any Account Services holds, you may begin the petition process. Complete Parts 1 (Basic Information) and 2 (typed letter) of the Petition for Early Readmission After Suspension. Maymester is not an option.

  2. Call your academic advisor to schedule a meeting.

  3. Take the petition document(s) and your letter to the meeting with your advisor. If approved, your advisor will sign the form(s) and help you create the schedule for Part 3 (and the addendum if applying for summer as well). If you have been placed on Financial Aid Suspension, you will also need to complete a SAP appeal in eForms (MyState). If you are petitioning for summer, you need both Forms A and B. If you are petitioning for fall, you only need Form A.

  4. Once you have the approval of your academic advisor, you will need to schedule a meeting with the dean of your academic college. Please note: this is NOT Dr. Thomas Bourgeois.

  5. If the dean signs and approves your petition, you must call 662-325-7228 to schedule a meeting with Mrs. Drake. YOU MUST HAVE ALL SIGNATURES REQUIRED FIRST.

The petition deadline for spring-suspended students to have all five steps completed for summer participation is June 29th at noon. If you are petitioning for fall only, the deadline is August 1st at noon. Late petitions will not be accepted. Students suspended at the end of the spring term may not enroll in Maymester. If you were already enrolled in a Maymester class, this will be dropped from your summer 2025 schedule.

If you are a distance student, please reach out to Mrs. Drake at 662-325-7228 to request the distance petition. To participate in the distance course, your campus must show Online Education.
